Cocktail 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Homi Adajania, the ace filmmaker who gave us 2012 release Cocktail, is back with a bang as he is here with the much awaited sequel of the movie. Yes! You read it right. After 14 years of Cocktail, Homi Adajania treated us with Cocktail 2 with a fresh cast of Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon. Touted to be romantic comedy drama, Cocktail 2 has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year courtesy of the success of Cocktail and high expectations were pinned against the film this year.

Interestingly, with a fresh cast and peppy songs, Cocktail 2 opened to mixed reviews. While many believed Kriti, Shahid and Rashmika absolutely nailed it and the movie was a light and entertaining watch, others called it a disaster as compared to the original film and even called the Animal actress a total miscast. For the uninitiated, Cocktail 2 revolves around a young couple whose life and love goes for a toss as their old friend re-enters their lives. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Cocktail 2 earned Rs 13.5cr on day 1 (first Friday). To note, the gross collections on opening day turned out to be Rs 16.20cr

Cocktail 2 Becomes Shahid Kapoor's Highest Opener

With an opening day collection of Rs 13.5cr, Cocktail 2 has managed to beat the day 1 collection of Shaandaar (Rs 13.1cr) and emerge as Shahid Kapoor's third highest opener of all times after Kabir Singh (Rs 20.21cr) and Padmaavat (Rs 19cr). Interestingly, Cocktail 2 has also managed to beat the opening day collection of its prequel Cocktail which happened to be Rs 10.95cr.

Meanwhile, talking about working with Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika stated, "There's no dull moment with him.. he would always make sure all of us are happy, smiling and taken care of. he's just that kind of a person you know you're going to have a good time when you go to the set with him.. it was really nice working with him and i really hope I get to work with him againn.
