Alpha Teaser: SRK Hails Alia For Her Spy Action Drama But Fans Compare It With Ranveer's Dhurandhar
Alpha Teaser: The teaser of Alpha introduces Alia Bhatt as Sita, an elite spy in training, and quickly shows intense action scenes. The glimpse into this origin story draws strong reactions from industry veterans, with Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Neetu Kapoor all publicly applauding the Alpha teaser and its team. The Alpha teaser opens on Sita's 18th birthday, where Sita enjoys a private conversation with the character's father, played by Bobby Deol. That calm moment is short-lived, as the character is soon pushed into a risky undercover mission inside a hotel, setting the tone for Sita's dangerous path.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film features Alia Bhatt in the lead role, with Sharvari playing a crucial supporting character. Alpha becomes the first female-led film within the YRF Spy Universe. The makers schedule the theatrical release of Alpha for 3 July, giving fans a fixed date to expect Sita's full story. Soon after the makers unveiled the teaser, the social media has been abuzz with the tweets and posts for the same. Shah Rukh Khan shared Alpha teaser praise through an Instagram Story, focusing on Alia Bhatt's leap into action-heavy territory. Shah Rukh Khan wrote, "Well done Alia, in years from breaking hearts and now to breaking bones, your skill set keeps expanding. Lord Bobby....you are so good when you are bad!!! Big hug. And all the best to Shiv and his team (sic)." The message also saluted Bobby Deol and director Shiv Rawail.
Netizens compare 'Alpha' to 'Dhurandhar'
Although 'Alpha' marks Bhatt's entry into the YRF Spy Universe, several social media users argue that its release following the success of 'Dhurandhar' has heightened audience expectations for the genre, making it difficult for the film to generate the same level of early excitement. "After 'Dhurandhar', everything else feels like a step backward," one fan wrote, while others shared side-by-side screenshots contrasting visuals from both films, pointing out similarities in the scenes featuring motorcyclists in mountainous landscapes.
Many viewers appeared taken aback by a specific line in the teaser, claiming it lacked the intensity and intrigue that resonated in 'Dhurandhar'. One critic commented, "'Dhurandhar' (1&2) gave audiences a taste of blood. Once you have tasted that level of gravity, it is hard to get excited about a trailer that feels lackluster. The 'wolf & sheep' line was laughable."
Others remained open-minded, with one fan adding, "'Dhurandhar' has set the bar high for any spy movie... I am still interested to see how 'Alpha' fares." Another noted, "Any Indian spy film releasing after 'Dhurandhar' has a tough act to follow. But this teaser doesn't look like it has tried to break the mold. The audience has made it clear that flashy VFX cannot compensate for weak content."
Meanwhile, talking about about working with Alia, Bobby told Hindustan Times, "I'm very fond of Ranbir and Alia, and I always wanted to work with both of them. With Ranbir, I did Animal, and now with Alia, I have done Alpha. I had the best time working with both of them. Alia is one of the most hardworking and sincere actors I've worked with. She comes to the set completely prepared, deeply invested in every scene. She has never done this kind of action before, and I was amazed seeing how prepared she was for the shoot. I could see she was giving her all because action is hard to pull off, and she went for it".
