Sayani Gupta’s Aasmani Goes Global; Set For Indie Meme Film Festival Screening
Actor Sayani Gupta is adding yet another milestone to her ever-evolving creative journey. The versatile performer, who has already made her directorial debut with short film Aasmani, is now going global as the film gears up for a screening at the prestigious Indie Meme Film Festival (IMFF) 2026.

Held in Austin, Texas from April 22 to 26 at the AFS Cinema, the 11th edition of the Indie Meme Film Festival will spotlight some of the finest voices in South Asian independent cinema. Established in 2013, Indie Meme has steadily built a reputation for championing compelling, diverse storytelling from the region and introducing it to audiences in the United States through screenings, filmmaker interactions, and curated events.
Aasmani will be screened in the Family Shorts Block on April 26 in Texas, as part of a thoughtfully curated showcase of stories seen through the eyes of children, exploring themes of love, loss, fear, and intergenerational connection.
Announcing the news on social media, Sayani Gupta shared her excitement, writing, "Four stories. One unforgettable screening - Family Shorts block at IMFF 2026! A gentle, thoughtful collection of stories told through children's eyes-exploring love, loss, fear, and connection across generations. Bring the kids and experience these stories together."
The film follows the poignant journey of Smita, a woman in her late sixties who shares a deeply emotional bond with a vintage powder-blue Fiat-also named Aasmani. The narrative unfolds as she teams up with her perceptive young granddaughter Tiya, weaving a story that is both intimate and evocative. The film stars veteran actor Revathy in the lead, alongside Daria Bedi and Abhay Kaul.
Known for her nuanced performances across films and series, Sayani Gupta continues to expand her creative horizons with Aasmani, reinforcing her position as a multifaceted talent in the industry. With this, she adds yet another feather to her cap as her directorial venture finds a platform on the global stage.
On the acting front, Sayani is also gearing up for the release of her upcoming Netflix series Glory.
