The official Netflix YouTube channel just recently uploaded a trailer for an upcoming nature documentary series called 'Secret World Of Sound With David Attenborough'.

While the documentary series was exclusively available on Sky TV before, it is now going to be available on other platforms like Netflix, which will also allow it to be watched in many more regions than before.

Here are a couple details that those who are interested in this documentary series should know before delving into it.

How The Documentary Series Will Be Structured

The documentary series will be divided into three long episodes, each focusing on a different function of sound in the animal kingdom.

The first episode, called 'Hunters And Hunted' will explore how animals use the different sounds they're able to make and hear as a means of both hunting prey as well as escaping predators. There are tactical advantages to not only being able to mask the sound that one makes, but also being able to create so much sound that it confuses or intimidates predators.

The second episode, titled 'Love And Rivals' will more closely explore how sound is involved in mating behaviour between the male and female animals of particular species. As humans often try to court each other using song and dance, animals also have many ways of courting one another, many of which involve the use of sweet sounding songs and coos.

The third and final episode, which will be called 'Finding A Voice', will focus more on how the babies of many animal species use sound as a means of communicating with their parents. This is a very familiar concept, as babies for humans also cry and coo as a means of communicating with their mothers and fathers. It's just that in the animal kingdom, the type of sounds one can hear from the babies may be drastically different from what one would imagine them to sound like.
