Fatwa Issued Against Actor-Politician Vijay By All India Muslim Jamaat Leader Over Iftar Controversy

Vijay Faces Fatwa Over Iftar Row By Muslim Jamaat

Vijay Faces Fatwa Over Iftar Controversy: In a fresh controversy surrounding actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay, the All India Muslim Jamaat has issued a fatwa urging Muslims in Tamil Nadu to distance themselves from the popular star. The move follows allegations that Vijay disrespected Islamic traditions during an Iftar gathering held in Chennai.

The fatwa, issued by Shahabuddin Razvi, president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, cites Vijay's conduct at the Iftar event as the primary trigger. In a statement, Shahabuddin Razvi alleged that individuals known for engaging in activities like drinking and gambling were invited to the gathering, which he described as a serious breach of religious decorum. He went on to claim that Vijay's actions amounted to desecration of the sacred event, calling it a "sin."

"Muslims should refrain from associating with Vijay or inviting him to religious programs," Shahabuddin Razvi declared. "Though he formed a political party and reached out to the Muslim community, his portrayal of Muslims in certain films has caused deep resentment," he added, referring to what he described as negative portrayals in past cinematic works.

According to a Times of India report, the fatwa was issued following complaints from Sunni Muslims in Tamil Nadu, who reportedly voiced their discontent over Vijay's actions and portrayals in cinema. Shahabuddin Razvi stated that his decision to issue the religious edict was made in direct response to these concerns.

Criticisms From Political Rivals of TVK

The controversy emerged after political rivals accused TVK of seeking central security for Vijay, citing potential threats from the Muslim community. They claimed the request was prompted by backlash over Vijay's past portrayals of Muslims in his films.

However, as per the TOI report, TVK and its ally, the Tamil Nadu Muslim League, have strongly denied these allegations, dismissing them as an attempt by the ruling DMK and its partners to create a rift between Vijay and Muslim voters.

As the controversy continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how this religious and political storm will affect Vijay's political ambitions and his support base in Tamil Nadu.
