Mounaraagam Exclusive Update: Mounaraagam, produced by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms, has been making headlines ever since its announcement and is counted among the most-awaited TV shows of 2026. Said to be a remake of a Telugu show of the same name, Mounaraagam was supposed to star Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin duo Shakti Arora and Bhavika Sharma.

Colors officially announced Mounaraagam by launching the promos featuring Bhavika Sharma, leaving fans excited. However, their happiness was short-lived as the talented actress was reportedly removed from the show as the channel wasn't happy with her performance. While the decision came as a shock for Bhavika's fans, Parineeti fame Aanchal Sahu reportedly replaced her opposite Shakti Arora.

Since then, there's been a constant buzz about Mounaraagam slated to launch in June once the IPL 2026 comes to an end. Amid all this, Filmibeat has received an exclusive update which is going to leave Shakti Arora fans heartbroken. We've got to know that the much-hyped show has been scrapped. Yes, you read that right!

Seems like the makers and the channel weren't on the same page on several aspects, which led to a fallout. After that, it was decided not to go ahead with the show. Revealing the same, a reliable source informed, "Mounaraagam has been axed after a lot of back and forth."

WHY COLORS AXED MOUNARAAGAM? HERE'S THE REASON

Revealing the reason, the source further told Filmibeat, "The makers were keen on following the original storyline of the South version. However, the channel wanted certain changes and tweaks, but the production house wasn't convinced. Despite multiple discussions and attempts to find common ground, both parties couldn't come to the same page. Eventually, after weighing all options, the decision to scrap was finalised. It's disappointing for everyone involved, especially the cast and crew, as a lot of effort had gone into the show."

However, an official announcement regarding the same is still awaited. For now, neither the channel nor the production house has yet to react to the development.

MOUNARAAGAM PLOT AND OTHER DETAILS

The story of the regional version of Mounaraagam revolves around a mute girl child who is rejected by her father and grandmother, as they believe she brings misfortune. While her siblings are raised inside the house, her mother cares for her separately, bringing her up in a small hatch outside the family home, giving her love and protection despite the family's prejudice.

Following the success of the Telugu version, the show was remade in Malayalam, where it became a major hit. Now, all eyes are on whether the Hindi version will finally make its debut or not.
