Father's Day 2026 | Mohit Malhotra On Best Advice He Received From His Dad: Sincerity Never Goes Out Of Style

Mohit Malhotra is no stranger to switching gears. He started on reality TV with Splitsvilla 2, found a massive fanbase as Kartik Sharma in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, and later played Sid in Sasural Genda Phool. TV credits like Bhagya Lakshmi, Naagin 5, Jamai Raja and Beintehaa followed, before he made his Bollywood debut in Vikram Bhatt's Hacked in 2020.

Father s Day 2026 Mohit Malhotra On Best Advice

The actor says his dad's one line shaped his career, ask him about the best acting advice he's ever lived by, and it doesn't come from a director or a acting coach. It comes from his father, Ashok Malhotra.

"My dad has always believed in sincerity over shortcuts," Mohit says. "I don't think he'd give me technical acting advice... he'd probably just say, 'Whatever you do, give it your hundred percent and stay true to yourself.'"

For Mohit, that line works on set and off it. "I think that's advice that goes beyond acting. It's something you can apply to every part of life. The industry changes, trends change, audiences change... but sincerity never really goes out of style."

This Father's Day, that perspective hits differently. "Father's Day is a beautiful reminder to pause and appreciate someone we often assume will always be there," he says. "When we're younger, we see our fathers as providers or protectors. As you grow older, you start seeing them as individuals... people who also had dreams, pressures, responsibilities, and still did everything they could for their families."

That shift changed how he celebrates the day. "I think Father's Day isn't just about celebrating fathers... it's about thanking them for all the things they did that often went unnoticed. As you grow older, you realise it's about carrying forward everything he taught you."

So who was dad's favorite, him or brother Himanshu? Mohit laughs it off. "If you ask both of us, we'll probably say the other one. That's how siblings are. Honestly, I don't think there was ever any comparison. Parents have this amazing way of loving each child differently without loving one more than the other."

The childhood fights? Now just memories. "Of course we've had our fun arguments growing up... but looking back now, those are some of the memories we laugh about the most."

For Mohit, Ashok Malhotra's legacy is simpler: show up, give 100%, stay real. On screen and off.
