Bhavatharani Raja , an accomplished Indian singer and music composer, hailed from a renowned musical family. Born as the daughter of Ilaiyaraja , she shared her musical lineage with noted film composers Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja as her brothers. Most of her singing career unfolded under the guidance of her father and brothers. Bhavatharani received critical acclaim, earning the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 2000 for her soulful rendition of "Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu" from the movie "Bharathi," a composition by her father Ilaiyaraja. Her singing journey commenced with the film "Raasaiya," where her debut song became a major hit. Over the years, she lent her melodious voice to numerous albums crafted by her family members, including her father and brothers. Additionally, she showcased her vocal talents in compositions by Deva and Sirpy. In 2001, Bhavatharani secured another National Award for her exceptional contribution to the song "Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu" from the movie "Bharathi." Beyond singing, Bhavatharani ventured into music direction, marking her debut in the 2002 film "Mitr, My Friend," directed by Revathi and starring Shobhana. She expanded her musical footprint into the Telugu film industry with "Avunaa" and composed for "Phir Milenge," a film directed by Revathi, featuring Shilpa Shetty, Abhishek Bachchan, and Salman Khan. In 2012, she took on the role of scoring tunes for the village-based project "Vellachi." Personal Life Bhavatharani was married to R. Sabariraj, an advertising executive and the son of S.N. Ramachandran. She pursued her education at Rosary Matric School in Chennai and later attended Adarsh Vidyalaya, Peters Road, Chennai, for her higher secondary schooling. Death Bhavatharani's journey was marked by resilience, and she faced a formidable battle with cancer. Unfortunately, she succumbed to the illness on January 25, 2024, in a hospital in Sri Lanka.
