Darshan Biography

Darshan Thoogudeepa is an Indian film actor, producer, and distributor who works predominantly in the Kannada film industry. Darshan is an avid animal lover; he is well known for his strong passion for pets and wild animals and owns a private studio in his farmhouse in the far east of Mysuru city.

Personal Life

Darshan was born on February 16, 1977, in Ponnampet, Kodangu, Karnataka, to Thogudeepa Srinivas and Meena. In the year 2000, he wed a relative called Vijayalakshmi, and they welcomed a son they given the name Vineesh.
Early Life

Darshan was born as Hemanth Kumar to actors Thoogudeepa Srinivas and Meena. Darshan has a sister, Divya, and a younger brother, Dinakar Thoogudeepa, a film director, screenwriter, and producer who runs the production house, Thoogudeepa Productions. As a child, Darshan completed his primary and secondary education in Mysuru. Before entering films, Darshan appeared in a few teleserials and teleshows.

Career

After passing out from Ninasam, Darshan worked as a light boy in various films before entering mainstream filmmaking as an assistant cameraman to veteran cinematographer B. C. Gowrishankar. Darshan started with supporting and uncredited roles. This period saw him play minor roles in television soap operas as well.

Darshan's major break came in films in 2000 with Majestic, directed by P. N. Satya and released in 2001. Following that, he appeared in many blockbuster films such as Kariya, Daasa, Kalasipalya, and Gaja, as well as Darshan in multi-starrer films such as Snehana Preethina with Aditya and Anatharu with Upendra.

He played the protagonist in the historical film Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna, for which he received his first Karnataka State Film Award and a Filmfare Award for best actor. He also acted in Chakravarthy and Sarvantrayami.

Darshan Arrested

On June 11th, 2024, Darshan was arrested in connection with the murder of Renuka Swamy, which occurred in 8th June 2024 in Kamakshipalya.
