Kalyani Priyadarshan is a popular Indian actress known for her work in Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil cinema. She is the daughter of veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan and actress Lissy. Kalyani made history as the first South Indian actress to enter the ₹200 crore club with the blockbuster Loka Chapter 1: Chandra.
Personal Life Born into a film family on April 5, 1993, in Chennai, Kalyani Priyadarshan is the daughter of director Priyadarshan and actress Lissy. She studied at Lady Andal School in Chennai and went on to earn a degree in Architectural Design from Parsons School of Design, New York. She has a brother named Siddharth.
Career Life Kalyani Priyadarshan started her acting career in the 2017 Telugu film Hello, earning the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Female. Before stepping in front of the camera, she worked as an assistant in the production design department of Krrish 3 in 2013. Following her Telugu success, she entered Tamil cinema with Hero, directed by P. S. Mithran.
Her Malayalam career took off in 2020 with Varane Avashyamund, starring alongside Dulquer Salmaan. She won hearts as Nithya in the blockbuster Hridayam and later appeared in Tovino Thomas’ hit Thullumala. Her Tamil projects include Maanaadu and Putham Pudhu Kaalai, and she also featured in the multi-starrer Malayalam epic Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea.
Kalyani has been part of two Malayalam 100-crore club films Hridayam and Thullumala. She made history as the first female superhero in Malayalam cinema with Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra, directed by Arun Dominic. The film entered the 200-crore club globally, becoming the fourth-highest-grossing Malayalam movie of all time. She also played a lead role opposite Fahadh Faasil in Odum Kutira Chaadum Kuthira, directed by Althaf Salim, further cementing her position as one of the leading actresses in South Indian cinema.
Throughout her career, Kalyani Priyadarshan has shared the screen with several superstar actors across Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu cinema, highlighting her versatility and rising stardom. Professionally, she is set to appear in the sequel to Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra.
