Biography

Rajpal Yadav is an Indian actor who primarily performs in the Bollywood film industry. He is well-known for playing comedic roles in Bollywood due to his comic timing. He is among the top comedians in Hindi films. He made his acting debut in the 1999 film Dil Kya Kare and went on to perform in various other films, including Jungle, Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, Bhool Bhulaiyaa Bhoothnath, and many others. Rajpal Yadav was born in Shahjahanpur, a city close to Lucknow. He attended school only in Shahjahanpur. He performed numerous plays while a member of the Shahjahanpur Theater. After completing a two-year program at Lucknow's Bharatendu Natya Academy for theater training, he then attended Delhi's National School of Theatre from 1994 to 1997. Afterwards, in 1997, he relocated to Mumbai in order to start his journey in the film industry. He was featured in Doordarshan's television program, Mungeri Ke Bhai Naurangilal. It was a follow-up to Doordarshan's Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne. He was effective at playing negative characters, but as he continued acting in Hindi films, particularly Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, he began to focus more on comedy roles. In movies like Hungama, Race Angst Time, Chup Chup Ke, Garam Masala, Phir Hera Pheri, and Dhol, he captivated the public. He performed leading character roles in a variety of movies, including Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, Ladies Tailor, Rama Rama Kya Hai Drama, and Hey!, in addition to comedies. Kushti, Mirch, Main, Meri Patni, and other songs like Hum Lallan Bol Hai. For his negative role in the movie Jungle, he was nominated for the Screen Best Actor Award and received the Sansui Screen Best Actor Award. For Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, he also received the Yash Bharti Award. Moreover, he has received the Janpad Ratna Award. In February 2026, Rajpal Yadav made headlines after surrendering to Tihar Jail in connection with a long-running cheque-bounce case related to a film production loan, following a court order.
