Actor
Shahir Cethirakath , better known by his stage name Sathya , is a rising star in the Tamil film industry. The younger brother of actor Arya, he made his acting debut in the unreleased film Kadhal 2 Kalyanam in 2008. However, it was his breakthrough role in Jeeva Shankar's romantic drama Amara Kaaviyam (2014) that catapulted him to fame. Career Brothers in arms, Arya and Sathya sifted through scripts, searching for the perfect launchpad for the latter's acting debut. They found it in Kadhal 2 Kalyanam, a romantic comedy where Sathya would play a radio jockey. To hone his skills, Sathya made his way to Bollywood actor Anupam Kher's acting school in Mumbai. He also immersed himself in the world of radio, shadowing professional jockeys to capture their nuances. In October 2008, Kadhal 2 Kalyanam began production, co-starring Divya Spandana. But fate had other plans. The film languished in production hell, and Sathya's debut was delayed. In January 2013, Sathya finally made his silver screen debut in Puthagam. While Kadhal 2 Kalyanam remains unreleased, Sathya has carved a niche for himself in Tamil cinema with the film "Amara Kaaviyam". Despite a lukewarm response to his debut, Arya, the elder brother of Sathya, believed in his sibling's potential and produced his next film, the romantic drama Amara Kaaviyam (2014), directed by Jeeva Shankar. Sathya played the titular role of Jeeva, a schoolboy, which required him to shed more than 10 kg. The film was based on a real event and garnered positive reviews from screenings prior to release. It also had a successful soundtrack composed by Ghibran, prompting a wide release in September 2014. Sathya's performance in Amara Kaaviyam earned mixed reviews, with a critic from The Hindu noting that "he grows into the role", while another reviewer noted that "he is convincing when he has to be a brooding young man". Nevertheless, the film was a box-office success and boosted Sathya's career. In 2015, he starred in Ettuthikkum Madhayaanai, directed by K. S. Thangasamy. In 2018, he got married to his longtime girlfriend.
