Tarun Sudhir Biography

Tharun Kishore Sudhir is a renowned Indian actor and filmmaker primarily active in Kannada cinema. He made his directorial debut with the multi-starrer "Chowka," which became a commercial success. Tharun has earned accolades, including one Filmfare Award and two SIIMA Awards for Best Director.


Early Life


Tharun Sudhir is the son of veteran Kannada film actor Sudhir and Malathi Sudhir. He has a brother, Nanda Kishore, who is also a well-known Kannada movie director. Tharun completed his education at KLE College and pursued a course in hotel management, working at the Ashoka Hotel for a year. Despite his interest in movies, Tharun also had a keen desire to pursue a career in cricket.


Career


Acting


Tharun began his acting career as a child artist in "Ganeshana Maduve" and later made his senior debut with the movie "Excuse Me." He has appeared in several films, including "Chappale," "Jothe Jotheyali," "Vidhyarthi," "Navagraha," and "Vishnu Sena."


Direction


After working as a co-director for the 2012 movie "Rambo," Tharun made his directorial debut with "Chowka" in 2017. The film featured prominent Sandalwood actors like Prajwal Devraj, Diganth, Prem Kumar, and Vijay Raghavendra, and received critical acclaim, running for over 100 days in several centers across Karnataka. His next directorial project, "Roberrt," starring Darshan, released on March 11, 2021, was widely appreciated and commercially successful. Tharun collaborated with Darshan again for "Kaatera," co-written by Jadesh Kumar Hampi, which released on December 29, 2023, to positive reviews from audiences and critics.


Tharun is also serving as a creative director for Arvind Kuplikar's film starring Sharan and Amrutha Iyengar and is set to team up with Darshan again for an untitled film based on freedom fighter Sindhoora Lakshmana.


Production


Tharun ventured into movie production under his studio Kreatiivez, in collaboration with Sharan's Laddu Cinemas, for the film "Guru Shishyaru." He co-produced and acted as the creative producer for the movie, which opened to positive reviews and commercial success. Tharun is once again collaborating with Sharan for an upcoming untitled project under his banner.


Personal Life


In 2024, it was revealed that Tharun Sudhir is in a relationship with actress Sonal Monteiro, whom he met on the set of "Roberrt." The couple's wedding took place in a grand ceremony on August 11 at Poornima Palace near Kengeri in Bengaluru. The event became a star-studded affair, attracting a dazzling array of celebrities and political dignitaries, making it one of the most talked-about weddings of the year. The wedding was attended by family members, colleagues from the industry, and top politicians.
